The heart is a hollow, muscular organ in vertebrates responsible for pumping blood through the blood vessels by repeated, rhythmic contractions, or a similar structure in annelids, mollusks, and arthropods. The term cardiac (as in cardiology) means "related to the heart" and comes from the Greek καρδιά, kardia, for "heart."

Health is a term that refers to a combination of the absence of illness, the ability to cope with everyday activities, physical fitness, and high quality of life. In any organism, health can be said to be a "state of balance," or analogous to homeostasis, and it also implies good prospects for continued survival. Wellness is a term sometimes used to describe the psychological state of being healthy, but is most often used in the field of alternative medicine to describe one's state of being.

The most widely accepted definition of health is that of the
World Health Organization (WHO). It states that "health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity" (WHO, 1946). In more recent years, this statement has been modified to include the ability to lead a "socially and economically productive life." The WHO definition is not without criticism, as some argue that health cannot be defined as a state at all, but must be seen as a process of continuous adjustment to the changing demands of living and of the changing meanings we give to life. The WHO definition is therefore considered by many as an idealistic goal rather than a realistic proposition.

Poker is a card game, the most popular of a class of games called vying games, in which players with fully or partially concealed cards make wagers into a central pot, which is awarded to the player or players with the best combination of cards or to the player who makes an uncalled bet. Poker can also refer to video poker which is a single player game seen in casinos much like a slot machine, or to other games that use poker hand rankings. While the game of poker is played in hundreds of variations, most follow the same basic pattern of play. The right to deal each hand typically rotates among the players and is marked by a token called a "buck" or "button".In a casino a house dealer handles the cards for each hand, but a button (typically a white plastic disk) is rotated among the players to indicate a nominal dealer to determine the order of betting.

The University of Southern California (also known as USC, 'SC, Southern California and Southern Cal), was founded in 1880 and is California's oldest private research university, and is located in the urban center of Los Angeles, California.

USC has become one of the most selective Universities in the nation [1], matriculating only 2,741 students of over the 31,000 that applied in 2005. USC was also named "College of the Year 2000" by the editors of Time magazine and the Princeton Review for the university's extensive community-service programs. USC is also home to Chemistry Professor George Olah, director of the Loker Hydrocarbon Research Institute, and winner of the Nobel Prize. USC achieved the rare distinction of having two National Science Foundation-funded Engineering Research Centers -- the Integrated Media Systems Center and the Center for Biomimetic Microelectronic Systems. In addition, The U.S. Department of Homeland Security selected USC as its first Homeland Security Center of Excellence.
USC's most recent fund-raising drive raised nearly $2.9 billion, second greatest in the history of higher education.

USC and its partner institutions have recently completed or soon will be constructing 27 new buildings, which will provide nearly 8.1 million square feet (750,000 m²) of new space for research, teaching, patient care, and enrichment of student life.

USC athletics also has a proud tradition; Trojan teams have won more national championships, 84 men’s (including a national-best 72 NCAA titles) and 20 women’s, than all but 1 other university.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea, commonly known as North Korea, is an East Asian country in the northern half of the Korean Peninsula. It is one of the last remaining socialist states and its government is often described as Stalinist, totalitarian, and isolationist.
To the south, it is bordered by
South Korea, with which it formed a single nation known as Korea until 1945. Its northern border is predominantly with the People's Republic of China. The Russian Federation shares a 18.3 kilometre (11.4 mi) border along the Tumen River in the far northeast corner of the country.

South Korea, known officially as the Republic of Korea, [1] (see Names of Korea) is an East Asian country on the southern half of the Korean Peninsula. To the north, it is bordered by North Korea, with which it was united as one country known as Korea until 1945. To the west, across the Yellow Sea, lies the People's Republic of China, and to the southeast, across the Korea Strait, lies Japan. Approximately one-quarter of South Korea's population lives in or near the capital and largest city, Seoul.

Since its founding in 1948, the country has struggled with the legacy of Japanese occupation, the Korean War, and decades of military rule, seeing five major constitutional changes. Pro-democracy demonstrations during the 1980s eventually led to free elections in 1987. South Korea is now a multi-party democracy.
The
South Korean economy has advanced rapidly since the 1950s and it is now the 11th largest economy in the world. South Korea is also one of the world's most technologically advanced and digitally-connected countries.
The South Korean entertainment industry has grown explosively since the 1990s, producing Asia-wide successes in
music, television, and film in a phenomenon known as Hallyu , or the "Korean wave". However, the country retains centuries-old customs and traditions, such as its unique cuisine, tea ceremony and ancestor worship.

The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is a standardized test used for admission to law schools in the United States of America and Canada that are members of the Law School Admission Council. It is scored on a normalized scale of 120 to 180—a 180 is the highest possible score, while a 120 is the lowest. A 150 represents the national median; the precise score distribution varies by test administration date.

It is administered four times per year, traditionally in February, June, October, and December. The LSAT is usually taken in the June or October preceding the year of admission, although most law schools will let applicants take the examination in December as well.

Unlike other American standardized tests, the LSAT is the most important criterion in its corresponding school admissions process. The second most important criterion is undergraduate GPA. Most prestigious law schools receive far more applicants than they can accommodate; the examination offers admissions officers a simple and generally effective way to eliminate a large number of applicants from the pool.

The LSAT is a very steeply graded test on the ends (high and low scores) and much more general in the range of the median score. To go from a 180 to a 175 may be the difference of 4 missed answers. To go from a 160 to a 155 could be a matter of 9 missed answers. Any score above 172 is usually in the 99th percentile (180 usually being about the 99.9th percentile). A 165 is the 93rd percentile. A 150 represents the 47th percentile. At many of the top law schools, admitted students' scores average in the high 160's to low 170's. [1]

Also unlike other standardized tests, the LSAT is rarely re-taken. This is because all of a student's LSAT scores are reported to their law school, not just his or her highest or most recent score (including examinations for which a student registered but did not take). Although most law schools consider all of an applicant's LSAT scores in their admission decisions, a few only consider the highest or most recent score, and the trend in recent years has been toward the latter method.

The Graduate Management Admission Test, better known by its initialism GMAT is a standardized test for determining aptitude in business management studies. The GMAT is required by most accredited US MBA programs and some non-US MBA programs (such as INSEAD & IMD).
Most MBA programs use the GMAT score as one of many criteria for admission. Although there is no clear-cut formula for admissions to business school (aka b-school), many people believe that the GMAT score is less important than the applicant's work experience and GPA.

The United States Constitution is the supreme law of the United States of America. It was completed on September 17, 1787, with its adoption by the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was later ratified by special conventions in each state. It created a federal union of sovereign states, and a federal government to operate that union. It replaced the less well-defined union that existed under the Articles of Confederation. It took effect on March 4, 1789 and has served as a model for the constitutions of numerous other nations. The Constitution of the United States of America is the oldest federal constitution currently in use.[1]

The Declaration of Independence is the document in which the Thirteen Colonies in North America declared themselves independent of the Kingdom of Great Britain and explained their justifications for doing so. It was ratified by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. This anniversary is celebrated as Independence Day in the United States. The handwritten copy signed by the delegates to the Congress is on display in the National Archives in Washington, D.C.

Throughout the 1750 and 1760s, relations between Great Britain and thirteen of her North American colonies had become increasingly strained. Fighting broke out in 1775 at Lexington and Concord marking the beginning of the American Revolutionary War. Although there was little initial sentiment for outright independence, the view of the British as oppressors widened after the passage of the Intolerable Acts, which struck strongly against Colonial self-rule. The rising tide against British rule was exemplified and strengthened by works such as Thomas Paine's pamphlet Common Sense, released on January 10, 1776, which had a substantial impact on the hearts and minds of colonial Americans.

On June 11, 1776, a committee consisting of John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson of Virginia, Robert R. Livingston of New York, and Roger Sherman of Connecticut (the "Committee of Five"), was formed to draft a suitable declaration to frame this resolution. The committee decided that Jefferson would write the draft, which he showed to Franklin and Adams, who made several minor corrections. Jefferson then produced another copy incorporating these changes, and the committee presented this copy to the Continental Congress on June 28, 1776.

Catholicism has two main ecclesiastical meanings, described in Webster's Dictionary as: (1) "the whole orthodox Christian church, or adherence thereto"; and (2) "the doctrines or faith of the Roman Catholic Church, or adherence thereto." 1

The term Catholicism, derived from the Greek adjective καθολικός (katholikos), meaning "general" or "universal", is widely understood to refer to the Church, governed by the Bishop of Rome and the bishops in communion with him. However, other Churches that trace their historic episcopate to the apostolic succession — such as the Oriental Orthodox Churches, the Eastern Orthodox Churches, the Assyrian Church of the East, the Churches of the Anglican Communion, and the Old-Catholics — consider themselves to be branches of the Catholic Church.

Neo-Lutheranism argues that Lutheran Churches are simply a Protestant reform movement that remains within the greater Church catholic.

His wise and scintillating writings are proverbial to this day. He shaped the American Revolution; a leader of the Enlightenment, he gained the recognition of scientists and intellectuals across Europe and the United States. As an agent in London before the Revolution, and Minister to France during, he more than anyone defined the new nation in the minds of Europe. His success in securing French military and financial aid was the turning point for American victory over Britain. He invented the lightning rod; he was an early proponent of colonial unity; historians hail him as the "First American". The city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania marked Franklin's 300th birthday in January 2006 with a wide array of exhibitions, and events citing Franklin's extraordinary accomplishments throughout his illustrious career.Born in Boston, Massachusetts to a tallow-maker, Franklin learned printing from his older brother and became a newspaper editor, printer, and merchant in Philadelphia, becoming very wealthy. He spent many years in England and published the famous Poor Richard's Almanack and the Pennsylvania Gazette. He formed both the first public lending library and fire department in America as well as the Junto, a political discussion club.He became a national hero in America when he convinced Parliament to repeal the unpopular Stamp Act.

A diplomatic genius, Franklin was almost universally admired among the French as American minister to Paris, and was a major figure in the development of positive Franco-American relations. From 1775 to 1776, Franklin was Postmaster General under the Continental Congress and from 1785 to his death in 1790 was President of the Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania.Franklin was interested in science and technology, carrying out his famous electricity experiments and invented the Franklin stove, medical catheter, lightning rod, swimfins, glass harmonica, and bifocals. The War of 1812 was fought between the United States and British Empire from 1812 to 1815, on land in North America and at sea around the world. Some history books refer to this war as the "War of 1812-14", using the date of the peace treaty as the ending date of the war.

The war formally began on June 18, 1812 with the U.S. declaration of war. The United States launched invasions of Britain's North American colonies in 1812 and 1813, but the borders were successfully defended by British and North American Indian forces. The United States gained the upper hand in the North American Indian part of war with victories at the Battle of the Thames in October 1813 and the Battle of Horseshoe Bend in March 1814, but, by this time, the United Kingdom had successfully concluded the Napoleonic wars and the British were finally able to divert more resources to North America. British invasions of American territory resulted in the burning of Washington, D.C. and the capture of part of the District of Maine, but the British counteroffensive was turned back at Lake Champlain, Baltimore, and New Orleans. The Treaty of Ghent (ratified in 1815) restored the status quo ante bellum between the combatants.
The War of 1812 ended as a stalemate and it is often only dimly remembered in Britain. It had many effects on the futures of those involved. The war created a greater sense of nationalism in both British North America and the United States. The successful defense of the British colonies against American invasion ultimately ensured the emergence of Canada as a nation, and the end of the war marked the decline of a longstanding desire of many Americans to see the British Empire expelled entirely from North America. Peace between the United States and British North America also meant that North American Indians could no longer use conflicts between the two powers to defend native lands against the expansion of white settlement.

On the Great Lakes border, more than half of the British forces were made up of Canadian militia. Additionally, many North American Indian peoples (today most often called "Native Americans" in the United States and "First Nations" in Canada) had their own reasons for fighting alongside either the British or the Americans. In the Northwest Territory, the War was, in a sense, a continuation of Tecumseh's War after his defeat in the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811.

Academia is a collective term for the scientific and cultural community engaged in higher education and research, taken as a whole. The word comes from the akademeia just outside ancient Athens, where the Gymnasium was made famous by Plato as a center of learning. The sacred space had formerly been an olive grove, hence the expression "the groves of Academe". By extension Academia has come to connote the cultural accumulation of knowledge, its development and transmission across generations and its practitioners and transmitters. In the 17th century, English and French religious scholars popularized the term to describe certain types of institutions of higher learning. The English adopted the form academy while the French adopted the forms académe and académie.

An academic is a person who works as a researcher (and usually teacher) at a university or similar institution. In the United States, the term is approximately synonymous with professor. In the United Kingdom, various titles are used, typically fellow, lecturer, reader and professor (see also academic rank), though the loose term don is often popularly substituted. In other parts of the world, the term scholar is probably closer. Academic administrators are not typically included in this use of the term.
Some sociologists have divided, but not limited, academia into four basic historical types: ancient academia, early academia, academic societies and the modern university. There are at least two models of academia: a European model developed since ancient times, as well as an American model developed by Benjamin Franklin in the mid-18th century and Thomas Jefferson in the early 19th century.
